Meet Juliana Swanson

I am a registered nurse, healer, astrologer, mother, and wife. I live on Hawaii's Big Island, a place of incredible energy and beauty.

Since I was old enough to walk, I have had spiritual and healing gifts. As a young teenager, under the guidance of my parents, I began a lifelong pursuit of spiritual knowledge that has helped me find purpose and meaning. It was also my parents who introduced me to the spiritual teachings of the great Indian saint Paramhansa Yogananda, my first guru (spiritual teacher).

At age 14, with my mother's encouragement, I also began studying and practicing Western astrology. At Antioch College and Naropa University, I continued to study and practice astrology as well as Eastern philosophy and yoga. I graduated from nursing school in 1977 and worked for many years in a variety of hospital settings, including maternity, operating room and psychiatric care. When I was in my early 30's, I took some time away from professional nursing to become a mother.

When my babies were very young, my husband and I searched for ways to enhance balance and harmony in our family life. In the process, I studied psychic and spiritual development; metaphysical healing; and Polarity Therapy. I also learned Rebirthing (conscious breath therapy) and MariEL-Reiki healing.

In 1996, I began studying the astrology of India, known as Vedic astrology or Jyotisha (the Science of Light). In September 2007, I completed a Level II certification in Vedic astrology through the American College of Vedic Astrology (ACVA).

Today, I teach Vedic astrology for ACVA's online program, and I am also a private astrological tutor, consultant and researcher.
