“ The happiness of one's own heart alone cannot satisfy the soul; one must try to include, as necessary to one's own happiness, the happiness of others.”

Juliana's News
About Juliana: I am still “back and forth” between New England and Hawaii (it is quite a commute!), as I work in Massachusetts as a part-time, private-duty psychiatric nurse. I also really enjoy teaching astrology to my private students as well as for the ACVA Online College at www.acvaonline.org. and will be teaching one of my favorite modules on the Nakshatras beginning Wednesday, October 21. Because of certain personal and professional plans and commitments in the coming months, I have decided to take a little break from giving readings for a few months (after I complete my backlog). I welcome your feedback, comments and suggestions.

The October 18th New Moon in Libra sets the stage for the next month as well as the New Year in several religious traditions of India. Libra is a cardinal constellation ruled by the planet Venus, and both relate to relationships, cooperative ventures and the need to maintain equilibrium in our ever-changing, often tumultuous world. Libra rules the kidneys, and just as the kidneys purify the blood to maintain the body’s homeostasis, Libra signifies (among other things) how we balance our own needs with those of others.
Many of us may be tested and may feel uneasiness within ourselves and in our relationships in the coming weeks, as the Moon conjoins debilitated Sun in Libra. Both are weakened in their early degrees of longitude (58 minutes/less than 1 degree) and both are involved in a stressful T-square with feisty Mars and the karmic axis (lunar nodes). The New Moon also conjoins the Midheaven (a point of tremendous power) of the United States (Kelleher) chart, which can have a collective effect, as in a karmic event or experience that affects many people at once.
The Sun and Moon are in the auspicious nakshatra of Libra known as Chitra, the “shining one” represented by a single bright star, Spica (alpha-Virginis), which the ancient Vedic seers associated with the divine celestial architect Tvashtar. The section of Chitra in which the New Moon falls is very much about creating harmony within ourselves and with our work and relationships. As Chitra is very creative, this may also be a good month ahead for self-development, home-improvement or an artistic project.
As the New Moon is afflicted in Chitra, we may see some dramatic events unfolding on the world stage. Mundane astrology says that when the Sun and Moon are afflicted in the New Moon chart (as in this case and especially because they conjunct the United States chart’s Midheaven), the ruler and the government might face grave difficulties; and, there may be landslides, mining disasters, fires, volcanic eruptions, and seaport or water disasters. On a brighter note, we may hear news of an astounding technological discovery or breakthrough, as well.
