Pisces New Moon: Happy New Year!

All Power Comes from Within
I was recently interviewed for a "Jyotish Biz" piece by my friend and colleague in Northern India, Astrologer Ashutosh. He is a highly respected Parashari Jyotishi (astrologer) and a Vastu expert who deals in Jyotish/Vastu products including gemstones, Vastu figurines, yantras, mantras, etc. Please check out the interview and Ashutosh’s informative Web site here:

ASTRAL UPDATE
Traditionally, the Vedic Lunar New Year begins at the New Moon in Pisces, which occurs this year on Monday, March 15 at 5:04 PM in Washington DC (see Chart #1 below). Though many observe the New Year on January 1, the Vedic New Year theme of renewal may be more accurate since it aligns with the essence of the spring season that begins on March 20 at 1:32 PM (EDT). In order to discern the collective karma for the year ahead, we erect the New Year chart for the capital of the country in question. Such a chart reflects the shared karma of a nation or group. Keep in mind that the New Year chart is just one of many charts that we use to make mundane forecasts.
1. Leo rises at ~5 degrees. Leo is sometimes called the most occult constellation because it is related to spiritual power. It gives an individualistic, creative and restless tone to the New Year chart. It also may reveal surprises and sudden events ahead.
2. The Rising sign (Lagna or Ascendant) is in the nakshatra (lunar sign) of Magha, the Mighty One, associated with the fixed royal star Regulus, which traditionally, when rising, confers wealth, but also scandal, violence, trouble, sickness, fevers and acute disease. In the navamsha of Taurus, the rising sign may represent some necessary reorganization of economic policies. The shakti (power) of Magha is the power of the astral body to release itself from the physical body, and this ties into a repeating theme of this chart related to death and transformation. In the first decante of Leo, this Ascendant may also foretell the death of a great world leader.

LIVING FEARLESSLY
By Paramahansa Yogananda
“Turn the spotlight of your attention inward, away from the limited visible man. The physical body has backaches and stomachaches; it suffers deterioration in old age; it is the nastiest little animal! Always crying and whining for something. The visible man cannot bear a bad fall; and he sometimes shrinks at even a pinprick; the invisible man is unhurt by anything. He is free. He can banish all the troubles of the physical body. The invisible man within you is what you are.
